Suwannakuha Temple (Kamavasi) was built in the Ayuddhaya period (Late16th century), this temple played a role as an Aranyavasi (School of Meditation) until the period of King Rama 5th. During King Rama’s journey to Malaysia around the 18th century, his procession stopped inside a cave where meals were prepared for his majesty the king and his followers. Nowadays it is the area behind a 15 meter reclining Buddha on the temple ground. In 1959 King Bhumibol ( Rama 9th) and Queen Sirikit had been here as well as king Rama 6th,7th and 8th ; on the cave wall you will find engraved the Royal Emblem of each king.
